The waltz is a smooth dance. It is characterized by moving along a line of dance. Taking a step, a slide and a three quarter step with rise and fall movements form the basics of the dance. The shoulders of the dancers have to be aligned with the floor in a smooth fashion. The objective is usually to increase the step taken. The first second and third movement upon the beat follow a specific order of stepping on the heel to the ball of the feet ending with a raise to the toes. At the conclusion of the third step the feet should be returned to their initial position.
The Viennese waltz is comprised of rotational movements and has a reputation of being classical. The partners rotate on the floor while revolving around each other. The pace at which it is performed rivals the classical dance in speed. There is a classification of it that may be performed in social functions as it can be easily carried out. It is performed in sweeping turns and graceful movements around the ground presenting a picture of simplicity and elegance.
The foxtrot dance is comprised of walking steps and side steps. Lengthy movements are taken with the same rise and fall actions of waltz though more simplified. The line of dance is shared from the waltz with the exception of the timing involved. The steps are to beats for a slow one and a beat for a quickened pace.
People have been more receptive to the tango. This factor may have been contributed by its ability to exhibit romantic tendancies. The presence of both parties of the opposite sex is necessitated. It is comprised of distinct dance steps all under the same wing. Depending on the kind, they may be danced in an open or closed embrace. The open embrace leaves a space between the partners while a closed embrace might see them have contact either on the chest or the hips. The ballroom dance serves to pass messages of emotions that are not voiced .
